DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: 31st March 2020

“PORTRAIT OF A PORTRAITIST: AMON KOTEI” is an exhibition in honour of a Great Ghanaian artist Amon Kotei. The exhibition is a follow-up project of Albert Nii Nortey Dowuona’s thesis submitted to the College Of Art And Social Sciences, Department Of Painting And Sculpture, KNUST – Kumasi, in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the award of a Bachelor of Fine Art Degree in May, 2010. https://www.alniinod.com/portrait-of-a-portraitist-amon-kotei/

The exhibition seeks to honour and memorialize the artist’s works, achievements and contribution in the lives of many young artists.

Amon Kotei Memorial Arts Institute (AKMAI) requests for submissions of works in all artistic disciples ranging from painting, installation, performance, writing, documentary, film, poetry and any artistic representation that would support in memorializing and honouring AMON KOTEI’s achievements and legacy.

This OPEN CALL is free. Selected artists would have to bear the cost of transporting works to and from the exhibition venue.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

In one PDF Labeled: ARTIST FULL NAME_ABOUT.pdf

  • Resume/CV
  • Narrative Bio
  • Artist Statement
  • Links to website/social media handles
  • Short synopsis of work you’ll be presenting

In one PDF file labeled: ARTIST FULL NAME_PORTFOLIO.pdf

  • Portfolio/ Work samples (IMAGES) – 5 images
  • A detailed work sample list
    • Filename
    • Art work title, year, medium, dimensions
    • Any additional description
  • Portfolio/ Work samples (IMAGES)
    • If applicable, please provide up to 4 URL links for video and time-based work. Vimeo is preferred for video. Soundcloud is preferred for audio.

Please note: Video/audio samples should not exceed 3 minutes. For longer pieces we recommend creating an excerpt or providing a cue point in the notes.

Include the following information:

  • URL
  • Password (If applicable)
  • Artwork title, year, duration
  • Any additional description

NB: All applications submitted will be considered final ad treated as such. All incomplete or duplicate applications will be disqualified.
